ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. Morgan was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan played a variety of sports throughout her childhood but did not favor soccer until she turned 14. Morgan then became a member of the Cypress Elite club team, winning the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship and finishing third in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan continued to work at Diamond Bar High School, where she honed her soccer abilities. National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has selected her as an All-American Athlete. She was also a participant of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her career in soccer at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scorer from her first season. Morgan was instrumental in bringing the team to the NCAA Tournament all four years and twice to the second round. Morgan was among four finalists for the Honda Sports Award. This resulted in her being the first Hermann Trophy finalists to be ranked in the top spot on the list. Morgan graduated in 2010 with the third-highest number of goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan was a soccer player at the collegiate as well as national levels throughout her education. When she first joined the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury that stopped her from training with the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April 2008. She scored her debut international goal in Mexico during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a part-time player at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals and earned her team a gold-medal. One of them was winning goals against Italy, which brought the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player of the team and he led the team to victory over France. Morgan, despite U.S. losing to Japan in the final World Cup match, became the first American player to score both a goal or assist.
